Words wrinkle my brain. But I’m not only about words. I like designing new ways of communicating with images and design. comedy and beasts. When I’m not thinking about communication, I’m fostering kittens, working on some house project or other, playing with LEGOs, knitting, coloring, cooking, napping, trying to do yoga, singing and accompanying myself badly on ukulele, spending time with my cats and dogs, reading, listening to an audiobook, or, when there’s not a plague about, volunteering and pretending to be a stand-up comedian (or reading or watching or listening to or tweeting about comedy) (is too a thing). My formal brain-wrinkling happened at some wonderful places: B.A. (philosophy, minor in education) and M.A.Ed. (museum education) at the College of William and Mary, which still feels like home to me; J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law; and (soon—this portfolio is my final project) a certificate in infographics and data visualization from the Parsons School of Design at the New School. I’ve also taken a smattering of classes in various subjects at the Community College of Allegheny County, the University of Pittsburgh, the Art Institute (Pittsburgh and online), and the American University.
