Installing FCKeditor

To install FCKeditor, perform these steps:

1. In your web browser, open https://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=75348.
   The SourceForge.net: Project Filelist window appears.
   
2. In the list of files for the FCKeditor package's latest release, click FCKeditor_x.x.zip where x.x is the release number.
   The Select a Mirror for File: /fckeditor/FCKeditor_x.x.zip window appears.
   
3. In the list of mirror sites, click the download icon for the site nearest you geographically.
   
   The File Download dialog box appears.
   
4. Click Save.
   The Save As dialog box appears.
   
5. Browse to the directory in which you want to save the compressed file.
   This need not be the same directory into which you intend to install FCKeditor itself.
   
6. Click Save.
   The download completes.
7. On your computer's desktop, click Start | Run.
   
   The Run dialog box appears.
   
8. Click Browse.
   The Browse dialog box appears.
   
9. From the Files of type drop-down list box, select All files.
   
10. Browse to the directory in which you saved FCKeditor_x.x.zip.
    
11. Double-click FCKeditor_x.x.zip.
    The compressed file's path and name appear in the Open text box in the Run dialog box.
    
12. Click OK.
    The FCKeditor_x.x.zip window appears.
    Note: These instructions are for Microsoft Windows XP operating system. If you are using another operating system, extract the files using your file extraction utility.
    
13. In the Folder Tasks section, click Extract all files.
    The Extraction Wizard opens with the Welcome to the Compressed (zipped) Folders Extraction Wizard dialog box.
    
14. Click Next.
    The Extraction Wizard continues with the Select a Destination dialog box.
    
15. If you want to install FCKeditor to a different directory than that shown in the Files will be extracted to this directory text box, click Browse and browse to that directory.
    If you can install directly to your web server, do so.
16. If the selected directory requires a password to place files in it, click Password and enter the information needed.
17. Click Next.
    The Extraction Wizard completes with the Extraction Complete dialog box.
    
18. Uncheck the Show extracted files check box.
19. Click Finish.
    If you installed FCKeditor directly to your web server, you are finished. If you installed locally and must transfer the files to your web server, instructions follow.
20. Open an FTP session with your web server.
21. Change your local directory to the one containing the FCKeditor_x.x directory in which you extracted the FCKeditor files.
22. Change your web server directory to the directory into which you want to place the FCKeditor_x.x directory.
23. Copy the entire FCKeditor_x.x directory from your local drive to your web server.
